A Study On The Epitaphs Of Bhiksunis Of The Tang Dynasty

Bhiksuni’s epitaphs of the Tang dynasty is the first-hand information to study the Tang Dynasty Buddhism women.The past research is combined with the history, with the epitaphs for reference, but this paper is based on the content and the epitaphs of the Tang Dynasty Bhiksuni itself,taking it as the research subject.The author uses the method of documents and the epitaph stone materials were used in combination to investigate and study.In this paper, the main part is divided into three parts.The first chapter and the third chapter mainly for the content of nuns epitaph of Tang Dynasty review,Chapter second epitaphs for nuns in stylistic analysis.The first chapter is based on the literature,divided the Tang Dynasty Bhiksuni into two categories:general nuns and palace nuns. Based on the existing epitaphs of the Tang Dynasty Bhiksuni and combing the main content of epitaphs reflects,for example these monks practice, family background, reasons.The second chapter is the main structure and characteristics of style on the Tang Dynasty Bhiksuni’s epitaphs analysis.The third chapter on the basis of the first chapter of the Tang Dynasty Bhiksuni, their political and religious life as finishing simple induction.The official history data for nuns records lack, epitaphs records information has to make up the history of the lack of role. Only after a comprehensive understanding of the Tang Dynasty Epitaphs have nuns content itself, in order to further explore the many social issues of women in the Tang Dynasty, in order to have a better understanding of the Buddhist culture of the Tang dynasty.
