Study On "Literati Spirit" In Su Shi’s Prose

Su Shi is a well-known Chinese ancient litterateur.Research about him is so various that it is called "Su Hai"(Su Ocean).Almost all these research papers focus on Su Shi’s poetry,but little attention is paid to his prose.In fact,however,Su Shi’s prose is of high research value and is quite worthwhile studying.Throughout his life,he had been creating prose whenever his career was successful or not.He always used relevant prose to express his feelings and thoughts,therefore,"Literati Spirit" is presented through the prose he created.In this paper,the focus will be paid to "Literati Spirit" in Su Shi’s prose.The origin and manifestation of Su Shi’s "Literati Spirit",as well as his own innovation and reconstruction of the spirit will be discovered.This paper is mainly composed of three parts.The first part(Chapter 1)is an overview of the historical background of Su Shi’s prose creation that focuses on discussing the styles and features of litterateurs in the middle and late Song dynasty,and analyzes the historical background of his prose creation combined with the creation condition,as well as analyzing how he pushed the "Literati Spirit" under such background,which made him unique.The second part(Chapter 2)analyzes in depth the "Literati Spirit" contained in Su Shi’s prose combining with the text,mainly from the following four aspects,"Haoran Zhengqi"(integrity),"Anpin Ledao"(positivity),"Duli Renge"(independence),and "Youzhi Yudao"(ideal).The third part(Chapter 3)discusses Su Shi’s questioning towards traditional Confucian scholar spirit,involving "Qiongda Guan"(the opinion about being successful in his career),"Chengren Guan"(the opinion about integrity),and "Buxiu Guan"(the opinion about eternity).
