A Report On The Translation Of Evaluating Climate Change Action For Sustainable Development (Chapters 1&2)

This translation report is based on the translation practice of a non-literary text.The source text is taken from Chapter 1 to the fourth section of Chapter 2 of Evaluating Climate Change Action for Sustainable Development,whose focus is that rigorous evaluation of policies,programs,and projects can help the international community to identify technical solutions,economic strategies,and social innovations,thus improving our ability to deal with climate change.Judging from its content,the source text belongs to an informative text and is moderately difficult in language.Taking the text type of the original into consideration,the translator uses communicative translation proposed by Peter Newmark to guide the translation practice and solve the problems encountered in translation practice.This report consists of four chapters: The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the project.The second chapter is analysis of the source text which includes its content and features.The third chapter,the core chapter of the report first gives a brief introduction of the guidance theory;then analyzes the difficulties encountered in the translating process.Specific translation cases are analyzed with solutions to various difficulties given.Namely,this chapter aims to solve the problem of choosing appropriate translation methods to make the translation meet the requirements of communicative translation.The fourth chapter is the lessons gained from this translation practice and the problems that remain to be solved.
