Liu Na-ou(1906-1940)since his critical essay on the film from 1928 in the magazine of Trackless Train,and he was active in the film industry.In terms of film creations,he had completed the script A Lady to Keep You Company(1934),took the household documentary The Man with a Camera(1932-1934),participated in the creation of the films were the Eternal Smile(1936),The Reduction(1937),First Love(1938),The Daughter of the Earth(1940),etc.In the film criticisms,theories and translations,he had to use Mengzhou,Ge Momei,Na-ou,Liu Na-ou as his pen name and in the magazines of Trackless Train,Painting Woman,Morning Paper,Modern Movie he published more than 40 articles.Liu Na-ou was a film critic,theorist,translator and screenwriter in the Chinese film filed of 1920 s to 1930 s,however his theories and scripts had not been paid enough attention.This paper studied the film theories and scripts of Liu Na-ou by exploring the relationship between the western theories acceptance,the creation of film theories and the scripts.This essay has divided into three parts,the first chapter to analyze Liu's acceptance about western literary theories and the study of the western film theories,films,the second chapter was to analysis for western film theories,films,on the basis of theoretical study,in terms of film theories established the movie ontology,theory of film form,the theory of film sounds and the theory of film author.The third chapter was focused on the case analysis,with the two films the piece A Lady to Keep You Company and the Eternal Smile,analyzing the different between Liu' scripts tendency as well as the relationship between the scripts and theories.Based on Liu's film criticisms,theories,translations and scripts,the author thought that,his thoughts and the interests influenced by the modernism and western film theories,so Liu's film theories put forward to western theories,film lens and lens movement as the starting point.That made up the blank of the Chinese theories.From the historical background to a personal choice,in the began Liu as a film fan to a practitioner,from the theories to screenwriting for systematically explore Liu's film theories and scripts,this essay plays a significant role on the study of Chinese early films.
