In 2001,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Outline for the Reform of Basic Education Curriculum.The basic curriculum reform requires changing the curriculum function,changing the past knowledge imparting tendency,making the students form active learning attitudes and good learning methods,at the same time,emphasizing knowledge and skills,process and methods,emotional attitude and values."All for the all-round development of every student" is the core idea of the new curriculum,and every student is the object that needs attention.A student is a developing individual and a unique individual with independent meaning.Therefore,in the new curriculum reform,the concept of curriculum has also changed,more emphasis on "the concept of big curriculum",and the teaching material is one of the elements of the curriculum,focusing on the cultivation of students' knowledge and skills,process and methods,emotional attitude and cultural values.Meanwhile,we should emphasize the comprehensiveness of curriculum,emphasize ideological and moral education and enhance the comprehensiveness of disciplines.In the process of student learning,we advocate self-learning,cooperative learning and inquiry learning.As the two sets of typical junior high school English textbooks in different times,the Kaiming English Reading Book and the Yilin version of the junior high school English textbook are of great significance to the comparison and analysis of the two sets of textbooks,whether it is the comparison of the external characteristics or the comparison of the inner cultural elements.On the other hand,this paper also focuses on the study of the core ideas and the form structure of the textbooks,and also puts forward some suggestions for the reform of junior high school English textbooks.Through the analysis and comparison of this two sets of textbooks,we find that both of them are the achievements of the editors,which can guide the students' English learning and help the teachers to complete the teaching work.But there are also some shortcomings.Kaiming English Reading Book is a classic English textbook compiled by Lin Yutang.It has profounded cultural connotation,especially the translation and the changes of Chinese and Western classical literary texts,which makes students feel the cultural differences between China and the west,imperceptibly improves their cross-cultural communication ability and it is also the first to add Feng Zikai's illustrations into the texts,which make the teaching materials more aesthetic.But to a certain extent,it has been unable to apply to the rapidly developing era and the characters of students today.English is one of the main teaching materials used by junior middleschool in China nowadays.It has advanced subject teaching idea,the content is new and the topic design is flexible and interesting.The content of the textbook is mainly based on our real life,and students are interested in various knowledge points which can improve their learning enthusiasm.However,there are still some small inadequacies,such as the lack of classical literature of Chinese and the west,not enough attention to Chinese traditional culture and cultural awareness,and the selection of some textbooks behind the development of the times.
