Now days in the art gallery and contemporary art museum,"video installations","new media art" almost occupy the mainstream of the works,but in fact,video art of China began to rise just in 1990 s.It is such surprised to find that,the development of video art,in a very short period,is in full swing.A large number of artworks and artists appear,and the theoretical system of video art is becoming more and more perfect.Video is not only a medium of art,but also one of the hotspots of Chinese contemporary art.The achievements of video art,which is the youngest art form,is undoubtedly closely related to the experiment in 90 s.Those experiment is extremely plentiful and colorful.On the one hand,doe to the reason that video art was originated in the Western culture,clearly we could tell the process of Chinese artists learning from the West;on the other hand,in 90 s,the video art also tried to discuss new topics related to the times,to the content,and even to itself.Through under the limited technical and exhibition circumstances,the early video artists created splendid and great masterpiece.The structure of the thesis is divided into four parts: The first part mainly describes the definition of image art and distinguishes the scope of this paper.The second part describes the social conditions and background of Chinese images in 90 s,and on the basis of this,arranges the important exhibition of image art in 90 s to present the development process of image art in 90 s.The third part mainly aims at the 90 s image itself,carries on the deeper classification by the main ways such as the form of the work,the language,the medium and so on,at the same time carries on the concrete case analysis to the relatively representative work based on the third part,but more focused on the image art in 90 s,and the discussion of image art,image art is not only an isolated development,this Chapter tries to present another aspect of the formation and development of image art from the angle of theory.The last part is intended to explain the influence of 90 s image art practice to the image art content,there is no doubt that this image is multi-directional,this paper only selects three main angles to discuss.
