A Translation Report On Security Breach(Excerpts)

In this translation report,the translator chooses a representative international thriller Security Breach(2008)as the translation text,which is accomplished by the distinguished English journalist and author Humphrey Hawksley.There are in total seventy-nine chapters,and the first twelfth chapters are given emphasis to here in the report.On account of the linguistic features of the selected text,the translator chooses the translation theory of Vinay and Darbelnet's Model and makes an intensive analysis on related issues using this framework during the translation process.There are altogether four parts in this translation report.The first part is the task description,which includes introduction to the translation task(about the book and the author)as well as the significance of the translation project;the second part presents the procedure description including source text analysis,theoretical preparation,and the specific translation process;and then the third part involves the case study,which mainly focuses on how to apply the procedures of Vinay and Darbelnet's model in the actual translation practice and make relevant case analysis,which is achieved by taking four perspective(the absorption of foreign words,the portrait of characters,the creation of mood,and the translation of vulgar languages.)based on the text features;while in the last part,the translator makes a conclusion,mainly covering some personal reflections after the translation and possible inspirations for further studies.
