In today’s society,the global workplace can be seen everywhere.With the increasing number of multinational corporations,international business activities are implemented more frequently.In such an era of cooperation and common prosperity among countries,effective implementation of intercultural communication can promote the progress of all aspects of the work.The source text of this translation project is extracted from the book Intercultural Communication in the Global Workplace which is based on the authors’ years of research in intercultural business communication and their experience in working and living abroad.The theory of intercultural communication combined with international business activities and the management of multinational corporations embodies its unique value in research and practice.The translation of such kind of text will help remove the cultural barriers,promote the communication among different cultures and achieve the purpose of communication.The text of intercultural communication emphasizes its function.In the process of translation,Eugene A.Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory has been adopted as the main theoretical basis.Functional equivalence emphasizes equivalence on language function and content rather than formal equivalence.According to the characteristics of the text,some translation methods,such as annotation,combination,domestication and so on,were used to analyze the relevant cases so as to achieve the functional equivalence of the target text.Through this translation practice,the author has gained a deeper understanding of the functional equivalence theory and also completed the translation of intercultural business texts under its guidance.The report is intended to provide a reference for the translation of such texts in the future.
