This is a report on the translation of Apollo and Checking out written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie,a Nigerian writer. This report discusses the application of lexical equivalence and sentence equivalence in E-C translation.Apollo tells about the memory of the protagonist in his childhood and Checking out is about getting sham marriage to get visa.Simplicity and brevity are the salient features of the two stories. How to achieve lexical equivalence and sentence equivalence while maintaining the simplicity and brevity is the primary concern for the translator.Under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory, this report mainly deals with the application of lexical equivalence and sentence equivalence in five aspects: title translation, long sentences translation, words translation, rhetorical devices translation and dialogue translation. And each aspect is indicated through several typical examples. With regard to the problems the translator met during the translation process, the translator focuses on three aspects while doing translation: reader-centered,accuracy and readability.Centered with the three aspects, the translator used different translation skills like conversion, amplification, word order adjustment and so on.And all the translation strategies and pre-translation preparations serve for the purpose of reproducing the flavor of the original text.
