| Language consists of pronunciations,words and grammars.Of them,words are the basis of language and they are an important way to express emotions.No words,no languages,so vocabulary teaching plays an important role in English class,However,because of the backwardness of IT,the lack of professional English teachers and the features of pupils’ psychology and physiology,spoon-feeding English vocabulary teaching is prevailing in most of the primary schools of rural areas.This traditional teaching method not only has no good study effects,but also weakens the students’ interest in learning English.Since the introduction of TPR teaching method in the 1960 s,it has aroused a lot of discussion in academic circle,and its application in English teaching has been gradually affirmed,but there are few studies on the application of TPR teaching method in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools,so it is necessary to do further research.Based on the theories of Second Language Acquisition Orders and Methods,Memory Trace and the characteristics of TPR teaching method,this study explores the effects of its application on pupils’ English vocabulary learning interest,and whether it can improve the effectiveness of English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools.In this study,questionnaires and tests were used as the research tools,and two parallel classes in grade five of the Central Primary School of Yunmeng Township Yijun County,Tongchuan City were selected as subjects,one of them was compare class(38students)and the second was the experimental class(39 students).The vocabulary level of two classes was tested before the experiment,and there was no significant difference in vocabulary level,which could be used as the research objects.The experimental class adopts TPR teaching methods while the compare class uses traditional teaching methods and the two classes have the only one teacher to teach the same courses at the same time.After the experiment,we use the Social Science Statistic Software SPSS19.0 to makedata analysis,the data analysis showed that the students’ learning scores both in control group and experimental group were significantly improved.The questionnaire was used to understand whether the students’ interest in learning was improved after using TPR method,the questionnaire is from vocabulary cognition,emotion and the behavior intention.After the experiment,the data analysis showed that the students’ interest in vocabulary learning has improved,and the students’ learning effects have been improved significantly.The results of the experiment show that in primary school English vocabulary teaching,the application of TPR teaching method is effective,and students’ interest in learning can also be improved.It is expected that this study will help to promote the teaching of English vocabulary in rural primary schools and inspire further research in the future. |
