Translation Report Of Passive Sentences In Academic Texts Under The Register Theory

Academic texts,with the usage of professional vocabulary,complex sentences and passive voices,have distinctive characteristics,whose readers are limited,and mainly are scholars,experts and graduate students.With the further development of the world economy,the country,society and academic circles are constantly paying more attention to academic texts.With the deepening of economic globalization,more and more outstanding academic texts from abroad are pouring into China,making academic text translation an unprecedented challenge and a great potential for development.However,the research on the translation of academic texts in China is not perfect,leaving a lot of potentials.For example,the translation research of passive sentences in academic texts is relatively scarce and passive sentences play a vital role on academic texts.Therefore,the translation study of passive sentences in academic texts is of great essence.Under the guidance of functional linguistics' register theory,the report discusses the translation of passive sentences in the fifth chapter of Translation as Metaphor during the English-Chinese translation practice.At the same time,combining with the characteristics of academic texts,the translator finds suitable solutions to enhance translation quality,and at the end of the report,sums up the translation strategies of passive translation of scholarly texts,fully taking into account the characteristics of the three variables in the register theory,the field,the tenor and the mode,and the realization of the equivalence between the target language and the source language.The main purpose of translating a professional translation theory book is to study the translation of academic texts under the guidance of register theory,especially the translation of passive sentences.It can further study the translation strategies of passive sentences in academic texts and improve the translation quality.And through a large amount of translation practice,the translator can improve the translation ability of passive sentences in academic and do her part for the translation of academic texts.
