| Translation is an important way in cultural communication.The translation of narrative text has an essential meaning on literature study.The source text for this translation practice is the chapter 2.Britain: Meet Mr.Lucifer: British cinema under the spell of TV excerpted from the book European Cinemas in the Television Age written by Dorota Ostrowska and Graham Roberts.There consists of two parts: the contents of translation practice and the translation report.The total number of translation is more than 10 thousand.Guided by the theory of Thematic Progression,the aim is to analyze the translation skills and translation techniques applied in the translation practice.Through the analysis of the source text before translation,the text genre is narrative text.Both the transmissions of information and expressions should all be focused on how to faithfully express the original meaning in the translation.What is more,considering the features of the source text and the target readers,the theory of Thematic Progression is used as guidance and translation techniques such as repetition,omission,division,syntactic linearity,amplification and rearrangement are used.The objective is to apply the skills and methods in translation practice of narrative texts.Through writing,the abilities to translate and solve problems can be greatly improved.If it is possible,it can be a reference for the translation or study of narrative text in the future. |
