With the development of music education,teacher training has become an important foundation for education career development.As a fundamental way of training teachers before occupation,educational internship is not only one of the most important links for musical normal students,but also one of the most important periods for them to improve their understanding of theoretical study and to enhance their abilities in practice.During the process of the educational internship,teaching abilities is the core competency that the students should master.Therefore,a lot of scholars have paid attention to the teaching abilities during the procedure of the educational internship.However,present studies on teaching abilities do not have hierarchies for each specific subject.There are few studies on teaching abilities of musical normal students,which is not enough to reflect characteristics of music teaching.Based on these problems,this study is aimed at exploring the meanings and contents of teaching competencies of musical normal students during the process of the educational internship via literature studies as well as interviews of trainees and their supervisors.In addition,participant observation has been made during the internship procedure of two months in order to analyze the transformations and influential factors of teaching abilities of musical normal students.Finally,suggestions have been provided to make educational internship more effective so as to improve the teaching competencies of musical normal students in the future.This study mainly includes three sections.The first section is theoretical study which contains research backgrounds,questions,significance,methods,as well as meanings and values of teaching competencies of musical normal students.The second section is cross-sectional study(realistic study)where meanings and values of teaching competencies of musical normal students have been explored via literature studies and interviews.In addition,the six trainees have been observed,interviewed and analyzed during their internship to entirely master the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching competencies of them during the process of educational internship in this school,as well as to analyze the influential factors.The last section is countermeasure study(oughtness study)where practical suggestions to improve the teaching competencies of musical normal students during educational internships based on the results of the realistic study.
