With the rapid development of China in recent years,an increasing number of international events are held in China.The 2017 China Rowing Open(HRB)brought rowing and the public closer effectively,which led to more public participation in rowing movement so as to promote the vigorous development of rowing.Besides,it also plays a crucial role in cultural exchange among regions and nations.However,there are few studies in field of rowing interpretation,as well as of related translation strategy and translation theory.By this practice,the writer intends to draw some conclusions about the features of sporting events English and different involved occasion of sports interpreting so as to probe into available methods,skills as well as strategies to do related interpreting.The writer will combine her acquired theoretic knowledge with interpreting practice going into effective and practical escort interpreting strategies on the basis of interpretive theory and skopos theory.Be built on being interpreter for Cambridge rowing crew from the UK,this interpreting project lasted 4 days,including working interpreting for 7 hours.As for this project,such interpreting strategies as the combination of Interpretive Theory,Skopos Theory as well as the author's professional knowledge in rowing are introduced into the interpreting practice.Interpreting preparation,parallel text study,task prediction and the establishment of corpora are specially focused.Major problems in this interpretation include understanding non-standard accent of speakers correctly,translating the name of organizations and institutions properly and put numbers accurately.The solutions to the problems are put forward based on the characteristics of each kind,including techniques of omission and amplification.The amplification mainly refers to adding the absent elements to sentences and also the culture-loaded information.Omission has been used to redundant information.Also strategies are concluded to tackle unexpected situations on the basis of good preparations and interpreting skills.China's rapid economic development is bound to promote domestic and international exchanges in sports and cultures.It hopes that this interpreting practice could provide reference for interpreters working on such projects in the future so as to provide better language services.In terms of interpreting theory,the interpretive theory and skopos theory are used throughout the entire process of interpreting,which will surely do some contributions in theories to future interpreting projects.
