A Report On The Escort Interpreting Practice For Israel Delegation In 2017 China Rowing Open

Today with the rapid development of the social economy and the significant improvement of people's living standard,the enthusiasm for sports is also growing.Thus,at the meantime,the sports events in our country are taking on the trend of rapid development.Rowing is an ancient sport,and the rowing race is also one of the traditional events of the Olympic Games.As the rowing is more and more popular,professional athletes compete against each other more and more frequently.China's superior natural environment and numerous static waters are provided a natural playing field for rowing races,so there are more and more international rowing races held in China.The demand for interpreters in rowing races are also increasing.The success of the rowing races is inseparable from the media of the interpreter,who serves as an important role-bridges for cross-language and cross-culture communication.In our country,there is still a lack of research on English interpretation in rowing races.It has great research significance and reference value on the practical experience conclusion of this interpreting project.China Rowing Open in 2017 is China's top rowing event.The author,as the team interpreter of the Israeli delegation,is responsible for interpreting of the reception,pre-conference,rowing trial,the opening ceremony,the rowing race,diagnosis process for the wounded athletes,television interview,the closing ceremony,celebratory dinner,traveling after races and so on.Through the practice of interpreting,the author summarizes the English interpreting vocabulary of rowing races,the interpreting methods of rowing race tactics,the guiding significance of skopos theory on the English interpreting of rowing race and the obstacle solutions of identifying and processing the Israeli English.By analyzing the relevant parallel texts and formulating a professional glossary,the author combined the skopos theory as a theoretical guide to prepare for the interpreting project of the rowing races.In the process of interpreting,the author has encountered several problems such as the translation of unprepared technical terms,the misinterpreting of cultural differences,the identifying and processing of Israeli English,and the emergency medical treatment for wounded person.The author analyzes and summarizes the common sentences of opening and closing ceremonies,the technical terms of race interpreting,the linguistic features of television interview,the methods of tourism interpreting and the coping strategy of main problems encountered in the process of interpreting.Through the research and summarization of this interpretation project,it can be promoted the development of the literature related to English interpreting in rowing races,and also provided experience for future interpreters who are rowing races interpreters,and v valuable resources for interpreting class-teaching in Colleges.
