There are 35 copies of existing Products Records in the local records of Hainan region written during the Ming and Qing Dynasty.The article takes part of these 35 copies of Products Records in local records as the research objects to make analysis for the historical compilation condition from the overall condition to discuss its value and insufficiency.The article employs literature research method and case study method in the aspect of compilation and revision condition,compilation rules and layout,compilation principles,compilation purpose and during the process of making comparison for the content for the Products Records in local records for Hainan region in Ming and Qing Dynasty.The Products Records recorded numerous types of products of Ming and Qing Dynasty.The author especially selects typical parts for comparative and analytic research.With time as the longitudinal clue and space as transverse clue,the purpose is to find the historical change of product recorded in the local records through comparison and cross-over analysis.The following conclusion is obtained: some of the Products Records in local records for Hainan region in Ming and Qing Dynasty has philological value,historical value,and biological value and are important document resources for studying Hainan historical products and environmental transition in Hainan History.Despite of the different levels of compilation and some non-detailed records,these cannot belittle the virtues.The Products Records in local records for Hainan region in Ming and Qing Dynasty still remains the important document resource for recording product materials in Hainan history and is the rare references for later generations to study product content of Hainan.It cannot be denied and neglected in the contribution for preservation of Hainan historical and cultural resources.
