This report is written on the basis of the reporter's experience of English-Chinese business interpreting at the 14th International Oleochem Exhibition in 2017.By analyzing the main difficulties and the causes, this report is aimed at summarizing common problems in business interpreting and their corresponding solutions. This report analyzed three major difficulties in business interpreting, namely the Indian accent, terminology and acronym,as well as the complex situations of turn-taking in conversation. The deep reason for these problems might be interpreters'lack of subjectivity. It means that these problems are not just caused by the difficulty of task itself, but largely related with the interpreter's own situation and view on this job.To well handle the problems in interpreting, interpreters may start from the root causes-to understand and establish the interpreter's subjectivity.Based on the text of recorded interpretation during the aforementioned exhibition and related studies, the following solutions are put forward in this report:firstly, making long-term and short-term preparations by establishing a correct mindset and adapting to the client's accent positively;secondly, properly using different interpreting tactics by omitting certain incomprehensible terms or asking questions according to different situations;thirdly, leveraging subjectivity in deciding when to be visible or invisible to handle complex turn-taking situations. The establishment of interpreter's subjectivity plays a vital role in guiding the interpreter in choosing suitable translation tactics and making effective moves in responding to all kinds of situations.
