Procrastination refers to the fact that an individual, faced with a task that must be accomplished, cannot commit to it immediately and complete it on time.Instead,he or she intentionally engages in other activities that have nothing to do with it,and postpone the task.Though people know that times is precious, they always look to the future for what they are doing, and there will be nothing in the end.Procrastination not only greatly weakens the efficiency of people's task, but also brings many negative consequences to individuals themselves.People tend to suffer from the inner emotional torment of procrastination, such as feelings of anxiety, intense remorse, guilt, and even constant self-denial and self-derogatory.These negative emotions seriously affect the physical and mental health of individuals.Because procrastination can bring many negative effects, more and more researchers begin to pay attention to procrastination behavior. With the development of the study on procrastination, researchers have accumulated many research results, such as the concept of procrastination, the types of procrastination, and the causes of procrastination and so on,but few studies have examined the formation mechanism of procrastination from the perspective of intergenerational transmission. This study based on the theory of observational learning examines the formation mechanism of children's procrastination from the perspective of intergenerational transmission, and further explores the mediating role of children's time management and self-control in the process of intergenerational transmission.Adult inventory of procrastination,General procrastination scale,Time management disposition scale,Self-control scale were used to investigate 553 primary school children and their parents. The results show that:(1)Procrastination has intergenerational transmission between parents and their children.(2)Time management disposition can play a simple mediating role in the intergenerational transfer process of procrastination.(3)Time management disposition and self-control can play a serial mediating role in the process.(4)The pattern of intergenerational transmission of procrastination between father and mother is inconsistent.(5)Group counseling with time management disposition can improve children's time management ability, and can further reduce children's procrastination behavior.
