Vocabulary is an important part of English teaching in high school.So,how to use strategies to improve the memory efficiency and application of vocabulary is always the key and difficult point in the teaching and research of English vocabulary.In 2017,there is published the English curriculum for senior high school,which included 3000 English words.Because of the single teaching method and large vocabulary,it causes some problems in the study of students,such as low motivation,low learning efficiency and short duration of memory.Therefore,as the introduction of related concepts,such as Mind Map,it makes teachers get innovation and breakthrough in vocabulary teaching.Tony Buzan proposes the mind map.It is a thinking tool that visualizations the mode of thinking,which designed to help users to improve their divergent thinking,comprehension and memory effect.This study lasted for one semester,which was investigated by English teachers and students the Affiliated Middle School of Henan Normal University.Through classroom observation,questionnaire and interview to investigate the use of mind map in vocabulary teaching.The study mainly discusses two problems:(1)What is the current situation of mind map in Senior High School English Vocabulary Teaching?(2)What are the main factors that affect the teachers' use of the teaching vocabulary of the mind map?The findings are as follows:(1)the current situation of usage of mind map is that 16.13% of the teachers always used it in class.78.87% of the teachers employed it occasionally.5.00% of the teachers have never used mind map in their class.Among the teachers who used mind map,86.67% of the teachers always use mind map to present words in public class or high quality class,and students also reacted well.6.45% of the teachers use it to lead in,and 71.29% of the teachers use it to present vocabulary,and 22.26%of the teachers use it to make a summary.(2)The main factors affecting the usage of mind map are as follows: First of all,the teachers do not understand the methods and function of the mind map,which directly causes they cannot use it in class.Secondly,due to the heavy teaching tasks,the long-time lesson preparation,and the misunderstanding of mind map can only meet the learning needs of students in small classes,the teachers cannot use mind map in high frequency.
