A Study Of Vehicles In Song Painting

The study of vehicles in ancient Song dynasty has gradually become a research focus recently.Most of the research essays use the images of vehicles and houses in Song painting to support their research results.In this dissertation,the author will take vehicles in Song paintings as main subjects,categorize different icons of vehicles types and discuss them in three main aspects.Firstly,whether the vehicle types are the same as depicted in historical records.Secondly,discuss the diverse animal tractions of vehicles in Song paintings.Thirdly,identify various ways and customs of going out in different hierarchies in Song dynasty.To achieve these aims,the author will contrast the image and literary record in the same time period,so that to make up the deficiency of missing record and excavation evidence,enrich the research material,which benefits the further studies of Song vehicles.Thanks to the publish of the Album of Song Paintings,Song paintings are gathered together from all around the world.This also promotes this research completed successfully.Thus conducing the research through Song painting is of vital importance to the study of Song vehicles and the trip mode of Song people.
