Grammar Research On Nantong Dialect

Grammar research on Nantong dialect is a thesis about dialectal grammar study on one dialect point.This paper mainly describes and analyzes the more distinctive grammatical phenomena in Nantong dialect from two aspects,namely lexical and syntactic,such as affixes,body categories,Reduplication Patterns,and some commonly used sentence patterns.On the basis of synchronic description,combined with the particularity of Nantong dialect as the boundary dialect,this study compares Nantong dialect with Mandarin and its surrounding dialects,hoping to reveal its transitional characteristics as a border dialect.The main contents of this paper include: the description of the form of the noun affixes in Nantong dialect and the analysis of the word formation ability;the classification,description,mixing and judging standards of the category of Nantong dialect;the form of verb reduplication and its grammatical meaning;the composition of the vivid form of an adjective and the degree of change in its expression;the description and analysis of the quantifiers and pronouns in Nantong dialect;the pragmatic features of statement label designator as marking topic focus;the description and analysis of usage of the common sentence patterns of disposition,passive,negative,non question,repeated question and emphatic sentence.This article makes a brief comparative analysis of Nantong dialect and its surrounding dialects such as Shanghai dialect and Taizhou dialect after each festival.It reveals that Nantong dialect is a mixed dialect.It develops on the basis of the grammar features of Wu dialect and Jianghuai dialect,forming its own characteristics.Nantong dialect first retained its own dialect characteristic.Then learning from other dialects,the stronger dialect will be chosen and utilized.And then it shows that the grammar of Nantong dialect has a lot of impurities.Nangtong dialect is a mixed boundary dialect.
