In this paper, on the basis of the fieldwork, sorting out Qihai sub-dialect which belongs to Wu Chinese and Nantong sub-dialect which belongs to Mandarin of Jianghuai. On the one hand, compare the Initials,finals and tones of the two sub-dialects with the Middle Chinese respectively, on the other hand, combining with the example of the words which with the middle voice,compare the Initials,finals and tones of the two sub-dialects respectively;finally, compare the literary and colloquial readings of the two sub-dialects from the Initials and the finals.The results show that the two sub-dialects belonged to two different dialects respectively and coexisted in Nantong contact each other, but for the influence of each other is quite limited. From the language contact and phonetic evolution, analyzes its reasons, roughly the following:(1) the political factor, the most Nantong citizens living in the area where is the government office speak Nantong sub-dialect;(2) geography factor, the Qihai sub-dialect distribute in Qidong,Haimen and Nantong Economic-Technological Development Area which are in the south of Nantong and along the Yangtze river,and they are boundaries clear;(3) the phonetic features, the pronunciation method of Qihai sub-dialect and Nantong sub-dialect is disparity, they are difficult to influence each other because they are difficult to communicate with each other.
