A Report On The Guide Interpreting At Changchun World Sculpture Park

This guide interpretation report is based on the author's mission at Changchun World Sculpture Park,serving an international student from Nepal.To offer high-quality interpretation in future,the author sought out mistakes committed through the mission and presents corresponding strategies to address them.Tasked with the mission of being a two-hour-tour guide interpreter in Changchun World Sculpture Park,the author has recorded the interpretation and transcribed the recordings.A multitude of parallel text and glossaries had been collected for reference before the task.On basis of research achievements in interpreting home and abroad,the reporter makes use of the standards for quality assessment proposed by the International Association of Conference Interpreters(AIIC),and assesses the source text from the perspective of its accuracy,faithfulness,delivery,completeness and sound control.Then the text is analyzed in detail,with mistakes being categorized into four types,namely filler words,repetition,misinterpretation and information loss.Aiming to improve the quality of the interpretation,the author introduces four strategies,reformulation,omission,active listening and analysis and amplification,in line with the schema theory.Considering the limited studies about the Nepali English,the author made reference to research preformed on Indian English,which shares several similarities with Nepali English,belonging to the Indic Branch.Detailed analysis has been shown to familiarize the interpreter herself with the accented English spoken by its neighboring nationals and alleviate psychological pressure.The report is expected to be referential for the interpreter's interpretation work and education career in the future and constructive for an interpreter training in the country.
