YangLiqing,one of most famous composers,pianists,educationalists,musical theoreticians and music activists in China,created numerous influential music works in his lifetime and nurtured a large number of moving forces in the world of music creation.His life was entirely given up to the music educational work and musical composition career,one thing led to another and he became a colossus in these two areas.YangLiqing's compositions were well known for the wide range of various subjects,but it is concertos that outshined others and played a unique role in his composition career,which run though all his creation career.The author selects three pieces of YangLiqing's concertos----The Wujiang River Hen,Desert at Dusk and The Impression of Muqam,as research objects,which were created in 1986,1998,and 2011,respectively.In this paper,the author hopes to get a more comprehensive understanding of Yang Liqing's harmony techniques,through the study of the harmony of the three works in different periods.There are four chapters in the body of this paper.In the first three chapters,the author discussed and expounded his views on the pitch structure of three works from different aspects,such as harmony material,harmony organization and harmony arrangement.And in this part,it also covers the analysis of traditional methods such as harmonic analysis,pitch class set,Schenkerian Analysis and many other analysis method.In the fourth chapter,the author summarized and sorted out the first three chapters,for the purpose of clarifying the relationship between the inheritance and development of the three works in harmony.Yang Liqing plays an important leading role in the development of modern Chinese music.The importance is not only reflected in many of his pioneering musical works,but also in his promotion of Western modern musical techniques and his exploration of the localization of these techniques.His attempts to build China's modern and contemporary music system still have far-reaching effects on music creation now and in the future.
