Yang Liqing Collection of Piano Works of a famous contemporary composer,pianist and musical theorist in China includes four piano works.those works are presented as Chinese folksongs Suite,Prelude,Sonatino and Considering.It?s creation time spanned from the 1960 s to the 1980 s.Yang Liqing Collection of Piano Works represents nationality in creation.Some works on the mode and tonality used to Yu mode,Zhi mode and Shang mode in pentatonic mode.Some works used pentatonic scales,Some works used diatonic scales of omnibus.In the aspect of nationality melody,some work applied regional Shanxi folksongs,some work applied typical tonic of Qiang that have Shanxi local characteristic.In according to harmony,each works performs with the harmonic structure of fourth structure and fifth structure.A few work the application of the harmonic process of pentatonic vertical structure.With a dynamic syncopatic tempo,the national instrument-like texture,and the national character revealed by its tonal representation on piano,the melodies are often placed on the high range altogether producing both bright and resounding tones,evidently sharing the tonal effets with Shanxi folksongs.The Collection,as is composed in the 20 th century,undoubtedly reveals the modernity of its time,where the composer applied composite mode and artifitial mode which was initiated in 20 th century to his works.In according to harmony,by means of usage of second structure harmonic process of fragment of tone,with the composite complexe harmony,compund chord?altered chord of chromaticism.The last work applied modernity composition techniques and play of piano techniques,such as tonlos unterdücken,glissando string and cluster,c.In some part of his works,by departing from pounding,the composer enables piano sound more similar to a percussion instrument.In the aspect of tempo,he increased the usage of devient tempo,in order to gain more rythmic mouvement in performance.Yang Liqing Collection of Piano Works manifest nationality and modernity on the composition.Nationality and modernity is not only creation style of Yang Liqing,but also the style orientation of majority composers of Contemporary Piano Art in China.
