The Analysis Of Ircam Cursus Project Work The Possibilities Of Freedom

Ircam,is a French institute for science about music and sound and avant garde electroacoustical art music.It is situated next to,and is organisationally linked with,the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.It was established by the famous composer,Pierre Boulez in 1977 and it started its Young composers project Cursus in 1990.I attended this project in 2016 which last for ten months and finished a project work,The possibilities of freedom.This thesis will analyze the project work within a wide range,from the natural inspiration,to the creating process until the performance in the final concert.I will analyze something related to sound resource,the relationship between electronic music and instruments,and the interaction between performer and this piece.The possibilities of freedom explored much in the work connotation and its sound.The inspiration came from the traditional Chinese philosophical thought,which could show in this work in appropriate ways.I studied possibilities to express philosophical thought in electronic music.Those possibilities include the relationship between culture and sound,and the combination between instruments and real-time electronic music technics.
