The Grass-roots Society Under The Background Of The White Lotus Uprising

Jiaqing white lotus uprising broke out in Qinba Mountains and spread to five provinces,including Hubei,Sichuan,Shaanxi,Gansu,Henan and other provinces.Before the outbreak of the uprising,the white lotus has been widely spread in Bashan forests,and formed a loose network of religion.After the outbreak of the uprising,the people in the affected areas were deeply affected by the war and lived in dire straits.The uprising broke the original local social order,and the military exploit gentry suddenly rose,which played an important role in the reconstruction of the local order after the war and the control of the grass-roots society.The thesis takes the people as the basic point of view,trying to explore how the common people live and choose in the turbulent pattern,how to reconstruct the local order after the end of the turmoil,and showing the phase changes of the traditional society.First of all,taking white lotus as the main reference object,discussing the reasons for the lowerpeople's to join the religion and riots.Secondly,from the perspective of the masses,we will show the miserable experience of the bottom people under the background of the white lotus uprising.Finally,based on the military gentry that emerged during the repression of the uprising,a case study was carried out to show how the military gentry participated in the social reconstruction and the contention for the discourse power of the local society after the end of the uprising.
