Both Guo Yu(????)and Zuo Zhuan(????)are important classics in the pre-Qin period. The two books have reliable materials, informative contents, and have their own characteristics on discourse reading and event reading,so they have high language research values. This dissertation mainly proofread the characters and words differences in the same part of the historical records of Guo Yu and Zuo Zhuan. The main body consists of three parts:The first is Introduction. It mainly introduces the general situations of Guo Yu and Zuo Zhuan, and the comparative studies of their linguistic language. It also briefly introduces the concepts and methods of proofreading, the ancient sound system on which the paper is based, and the significance of the topic. The second is proofreading studies on the use of characters of Guo Yu and Zuo Zhuan. We proofread out 23 groups interchangeable characters(???).In contrast,Guo Yu uses more original forms of characters and the Zuo Zhuan uses more present forms. At the same time, most of interchangeable characters are homophones,so the two books do not reflect the obvious dialect differences. There are 15 couples ancient and modern characters(???),relatively speaking,Guo Yu uses more modern characters, and Zuo Zhuan uses more ancient characters, which may be related to the copying of descendants. And we proofread out 11 groups variant characters(???),summarized 6 kinds of variant characters formation mechanisms:pictophonetic characters with different morphemes;the sound symbols are changed;the pens are added or cut down;the character patterns are changed;the positions of the same components are changed;and the virtual words are mixed. The third is proofreading studies on the use of words of Guo Yu and Zuo Zhuan. This part is mainly divided into four categories:synonyms,grammatically-partial words, phrases, and address terms and names. The difference between the two books is mainly the use of synonyms.Synonyms are mainly monosyllable, which reflects the monosyllabic characteristics of Qin and Han languages. In the 168 synonym group, there are 154 synonyms that are related to meaning of words and 14 synonyms that are related to the contexts.which conform to the law of word development. The grammatically-partial words are 20 groups, including a total of 14 groups with the same word classes. The six groups with different classes differ mainly in the differences between adverbs and conjunctions or conjunctions and prepositions. In terms of phrases, relatively speaking,Guo Yu is relatively more phrasal, while Zuo Zhuan is less, perhaps related to the linguistic property of Guo Yu.In terms of titles,Guo Yu has more posthumous titles,Zuo Zhuan has more the ranks of nobility;Guo Yu call monarchs of Wu and Yue the"King" more,Zuo Zhuan calls "Zi" more; These are related to the narrative styles, description styles of the two books and the classics status of the Zuo Zhuan. The differences between the titles of the two books are caused by self-deprecatory appellations and dialects. There are many different ways of combining the titles of the "surnames" in the two books, with no significant differences.Judging from the differences of the characters and words, the authors of Guo Yu and Zuo Zhuan should be different, and the writing ages are relatively close.
