The greatest needs of all the people in modern society are spirit and emotion,the “human-centered” era of emotional economy has comes.Since the person is the animal that needs emotional communication,the essence of design is an affective interaction.As the design of picture books for preprimary children is a branch of book design,it is necessary to be enriched by the theory of children’s book design.The target readers are preprimary children,so it is indispensable to psychologically and affectively understand the preprimary children.Based on the above basic understanding,firstly,the historical evolution,type characteristic,form and design status of the picture books for preprimary children are studied to search the main problems existed in the design of the picture books.Secondly,the affection need of preprimary children to read picture books is explored by researching the early reading for children,affective development of children and psychological need of children’s early reading.Finally,the design idea of picture books for children is put forward from aspects of design principle,design factor and design method of picture books.In short,the study enriches the theoretical research on the design of children’s picture books,expands the form of the diversity of children’s picture book design and adds the perspective of the research to some extent with the purpose of making the design of the picture books more consistent with the affective experience need of preprimary children and promoting the development of picture book design for preprimary children.
