Functional theories of translation is a theoretical system of multi-translation standards based on the Skopos rule, which focuses on the purpose of translation.Based on the study of E-C Translation of Congressional Budget Office's(CBO)Economic Forecasting Record(2017 Update),this dissertation conducts an analysis of the methods used in economic text translation from the perspective of the functional theories of translation.Initially, this dissertation classifies the original text into informative type according to Katharina Reiss's Text Type Theory. This is followed by outlining specific requirements for translation in accordance with both Hans Vermeer's Skopos Theory and Christinae Nord's Function plus Loyalty Theory. Finally this dissertation determines the corresponding translation methods for economic text respectively from three levels---lexis,syntax and discourse,in order to ensure both accuracy and the pursuit of faithfulness, which further verifies the guiding significance of functional theories of translation on translation, especially for economic texts. |
