Economics, as a social science or discipline studying on the rules of resource allocations, human behaviors and social economic activities, affects our lives in many ways, sometimes even without our consciousness. In fact, economics lies in our daily life. In the book Land: A New Paradigm for a Thriving World, with succinct words and ample illustrating examples, Martin Adams wrote about the cost of the common but wrong behavior of owning land, and shared his views on land and land value. A new model that would be beneficial for creating an equal and thriving society was also mentioned in the book. This translation report mainly contains four sections: task description, process description, case study and conclusion. It is based on the translation of Part I of the economic literature Land. As the source text was selected from an economic literature, it can be classified as economic text. Due to the unique features of most economic literatures, the translation methods for this type of text are distinct from either literary translation or non-literary translation related to professional fields. Problems such as how to precisely translate the economic terms, how to represent the author’s ideas in the target text and provide understandable translation for readers from all walks of life, how to deal with the linguistic distinctions between English and Chinese, and how to maintain the spirit of the original work by introducing appropriate translation methods, were frequently considered by me during the whole process of the translation project. These problems will be discussed in the report. Furthermore, I will also analyze else problems related to translation and linguistic features which were found during the translation process, besides, respective translation methods will be discussed.
