Abstract/Summary:
Grammar teaching plays an important role in English teaching in secondary vocational schools.In secondary vocational English grammar class,many teachers adopt task-based teaching method,which enables students can not only pay attention to language form,but also participate in meaningful communication.In order to understand the application of task-based teaching method in English teaching in secondary vocational English schools as well as exploring the task types suitable for secondary vocational English grammar teaching,this paper puts forward the following questions:what kinds of tasks are used by teachers in the secondary vocational English grammar classroom?What tasks are used in teaching different tenses?How are these tasks designed and applied at all stages?The author conducted a 4-month classroom observation of English grammar in a secondary vocational school in Yanji.By means of survey method,case analysis method and interview method,this paper analyzes 20 tense classes and 34 teaching cases,in order to explores which types of tasks are used by teachers in tense teaching and how to use them in grammar teaching.The study found that:1.Six types of tasks are used in the tense teaching of English grammar classes in secondary vocational schools.Among them,the use rate of enumerative tasks is higher,followed by comparative tasks,sort tasks,problem selection tasks,creative tasks and experience-sharing tasks.The types of tasks used in different tense teaching are different.In the general present tense teaching,the utilization rate of comparative tasks and creative tasks is higher;in the present continuous tense teaching,the utilization rate of comparative tasks and creative tasks is higher;in the general past tense teaching,the utilization rate of enumerative tasks is higher.3.Comparative tasks are suitable for classroom introduction;sort tasks and Problem-solving tasks are suitable for class explaining stage,ranking tasks and creative tasks are suitable for classroom practice stage.This thesis is helpful for teachers to choose the task types that suitable for secondary vocational English grammar teaching.
