| Based on the C-E translation for international communication principles, this report gives an analysis to the application of semantic compensation tactics in the C-E translation for international communication excerpted from the book of The Belt and Road Initiatives Changing The World Economic Geography(excerpt),addressing and discussing tactics of semantic compensation applied in the C-E translation for international communication.Guided by the C-E translation for international communication principles, the report analyses the expression differences of the C-E translation for international communication in the translation process, concentrating on the semantic equivalence in translation and the source text.Owing to differences in language and culture between the Chinese and English, there are some difficulties and problems in the translation process. The translation process can be muddled between Chinese and English because there are such words with Chinese characteristics without equivalents in English;Chinese cultural concepts may not have a complete meaning in English;and complex sentences between Chinese and English with syntactic differences and compound sentences with logical relationship differences. To address these differences between English and Chinese in the translation process, the report discusses four practical tactics of semantic compensation applied in the C-E translation for international communication. These four practical semantic compensation tactics include: semantic compensation of words with Chinese characteristics;adding notes compensation to Chinese cultural concepts;structural reorganization compensation of complex sentences, and linking compensation of logical relationships in the compound sentences. The report attempts to assist other Chinese texts about The Belt and Road be translated into English based on the practice report of the C-E translation forinternational communication, contributing to propagating The Belt and Road and introducing China to the whole world. |
