This is a translation report of The Regulation of International Trade(Expcerpts)exposing international trade and regulation written by Michael J.Trebilcock and Robert Howse.The first chapter of the book was translated.In the translation,the author combines the specific strategies of translation compensation,induces and analyzes the application methods of specific translation compensation strategies from both the semantic and cultural aspects.To sum up,in order to properly compensate for the loss of the original text,the translator must first thoroughly understand the original text,recognize the cultural differences between the original language and the target language,and then select the appropriate translation compensation strategy to give priority to the most important meanings in the original text.First of all,this translation report introduces the tasks of translation,which mainly clarifies the background of translation tasks and the nature of translation tasks.Then describes the translation process,introduces the author's preparatory work before translation and the preparatory process of the translation compensation,includes the definition and the research status of translation compensation at home and abroad and the difficulties in the translation.The paper focuses on how to use the techniques and methods of translation compensation to solve the problem of translation compensation at the semantic and cultural levels through the specific cases in the translation project.Lastly,the experience and lessons of this translation practice and inspiration and prospect for future study are summarized.
