| Background:altruistic behavior is one of the basic processes for realizing the goal of "overall poverty alleviation" and"common prosperity",which has great social significance.Studies have shown that ego depletion is the main psychological inducement for people to reduce their altruistic behavior.It is an important way for social groups such as religion and political parties to strengthen their self-control and strengthen the altruistic behavior among members.Awe may regulate the effect of ego depletion on altruistic behavior,but there is no empirical study to verify this hypothesis.Objective:To explore the effect of awe on individual altruistic behavior.Experiment 1 demonstrates the effect of ego depletion on altruistic behavior;Experiment 2 investigates whether the awe regulate the influence of ego depletion on altruistic behavior.Methods:Experiment 1 used the stroop task to generate ego depletion and to observe whether the altruistic behavior in the dictator’s task was affected by ego depletion.Experiment 2 used the stroop task to generate ego depletion,used recall induced awe,with 2(ego depletion:low vs.high)x 2(awe:no awe VS have)completely randomized block design,observe the dictator of altruistic behavior,whether the awe regulate the influence of ego depletion on altruistic behavior.Results:experiment 1 found that individuals with high ego depletion showed less altruistic behavior than individuals with low ego depletion.Experiment 2 found that the main effect of awe was significant,and the main effect of ego depletion was significant,and the interaction between awe and ego depletion was significant.In the presence of awe,ego depletion reduces individual altruism.To induce an awe emotional subjects scores,ego depletion,proceed regression analysis on the level of altruism,found that the degree of awe adjustment ego depletion affect altruistic behavior.In the low-awe group,the awe has positive predictive effect on the altruistic behavior,and the ego depletion has negative predictive effect on the altruistic behavior;In the high-awe group,awe and ego depletion have no predictive effect on altruistic behavior.The results shows that:(1)ego depletion reduces individual altruism;(2)the presence of awe,regulating the decrease of ego depletion in altruistic behavior,;(3)the degree of awe regulate the effect of ego depletion on altruistic behavior,the awe of low ego depletion still reduces the individual altruistic behavior,degree and the awe of high degree,ego depletion no longer reduces the individual altruistic behavior. |
