Being the center of personality research, ego has a great significance in maintaining personal psychological health and forming sound personality.Ego is constantly developing. It not only exists in the present, but also extends from past to future. One person’s cognition and evaluation of his/her ego in past, present and future time dimensions will influence his/her development through the entire lifetime.Negative life events are stressful events encountered by one person in life and learning, which will have an impact on self-cognition,even will greatly influence the development of personality in the worst case.Resilience can help individuals recover from negative events quickly and reduce the undesirable impacts to avoid psychological issues. As the society develops, undergraduates are facing greater challenges and stress.Their psychology is close to maturity but not mature enough, thus they tend to be influenced by negative events in life, which will result in negative self-cognition and influence their psychological health.By studying on the deaf undergraduates temporal self, negative life events and resilience, this research explores features of the deaf undergraduates temporal self and the connection between negative life events and resilience to increase the deaf undergraduates’ psychological health. This study uses the Glossary of the Temporal Self-appraisal,Teenagers’ Life Event Scale made by Xianchen Liu and resilience Scale made by Xiaonan Yu to do research on 240 deaf undergraduates and 370 normal undergraduates. And the research results are as follows:(1)The deaf undergraduates and normal undergraduates all utilize the most positive words to describe the future self, while the present self is second positive and the past self is the last;they use more negative words to describe past self, present self is second and future self is the last.(2)The deaf undergraduates’ negative life events are in significant positive correlation with the negative self in past, present and future dimensions and in significant negative correlation with positive self in past, present and future dimensions.(3)Resilience of the deaf undergraduates is in significant positive correlation with positive self in past, present and future dimensions and in significant negative correlation with negative self in past, present and future dimensions.(4)Negative life events of the deaf undergraduates are in significant negative correlation with their resilience.(5)Resilience of the deaf undergraduates plays a complete mediating role between negative life events and past positive self and plays a partial mediating role between negative life events and present positive self, negative life events and present negative self, negative life events and future positive self, negative life events and future negative self. |
