With the development of the market economy,the optimization of industrial structure and the continuous adjustment of the labor market,new requirements have been put forward for the quality of the laborers,and the social need for skilled talents shows a trend of continuous growth.Accordingly,Vocational education has increasingly become one of the country's focuses for cultivating skilled talents.Secondary vocational education is one of the important constituents in our educational system,shouldering the responsibility for supplying skilled talents to the society.Teaching quality is crucial for vocational schools to cultivate talents who can meet the needs of society and the labor market.However,curriculum design is the significant factor to influence teaching quality.Reasonable curriculum design plays a fundamental role in the cultivation of high quality talents.The author takes the curriculum design of Business English major in a vocational school as an example,adopting research methods such as literature review,questionnaire analysis and interview,combined with the Teaching Standard for Business English in Secondary Vocational School and based on the theory of needs analysis,to conduct a comprehensive survey on learners' needs,social needs and graduates feedback.Through the research,the author finds out the problems existing in its curriculum: the orientation of training target is not clear,curriculum structure is unreasonable,textbook structure is imbalanced,lacking of supporting resources for curriculum implementation and weak monitoring of implementation process.The main reasons are lack of industry demand investigation,incomplete implementation of teaching standards,neglect of school-based course and textbook development,insufficient investment in equipment funds,lack of feedback and evaluation from enterprises,etc.On this basis,the corresponding countermeasures are proposed.The author suggests that we should clarify the training objectives,adjust the curriculum structure,develop school-based courses and teaching materials,strengthen the resource input for curriculum implementation,and improve the cooperation mechanism between schools and enterprises.
