Tour guide commentary is a kind of explanation which the guides speak to the travelers when visiting scenic spots. It is also an instrument for guides to communicate with travelers as well as transmit culture information. As a famous tourist attraction in south of China,Mt.Hengshan receives thousands of foreign tourists every year. However, there is no official translation for its tour guide commentary. From the various versions on the Internet, the introduction of English guides to Hengshan is not the same. This will affect the foreign tourists’ accurate understanding of the rich Chinese culture of Mount Hengshan and may even affect the development of local tourism. In view of this, and the author’s familiarity with this attractions, the author intends to translate its tour commentary into English,in order to deepen his understanding of the Chinese traditional culture and the religious culture, and to understand the difference between English and Chinese culture and use of words, thus providing inspiration for English translation of similar texts.Based on the understanding of the source text and its features, this report classifies the problems in the translation process into three main kinds, the religious terms, architectural terms, and run-on sentences. And then combined with the three rules of Skopos theory, through some specific examples,it summarizes the translation strategies. From the Skopos rule, the strategies free translation and addition are taken, mainly dealing with the translating of the religious terms and architectural terms. From the coherence rule, the division, conversion, and combination are taken, mainly dealing with the-translation-of-run-on sentences. From the fidelity rule, the literal translation and transliteration with annotation are taken, mainly dealing with the translation of the names of buildings or scenic spots.
