The impoverishment of Ma Dai and anguish of the official career make his creation narrow. His poems look at the small and bitterly cold images in the daily life.By selecting and using of cold images, the bitterly cold modification of images in the daily life,Ma Dai wants to express his sadness in the life and official career. At the same time, selecting the exact words and creating the best artistic conception show his attitude towards singing-bitterly and his aesthetic pursuit. The images about the sea appear many times in the poems of Ma Dai,which makes his poem have obviously regional feature. These images are imaged and themed to express his homesickness, sadness of farewell and the expectation of reclusion. The expectation of reclusion is made not only by homesickness, but also by the influence of Zen.The perception of Zen makes Ma Dai eager to pursuit natural and free thought and long for peaceful reclusion. The perception of Zen and the association of monks make his poems flavored of Zen,which insists of the philosophy. The hopelessness and frustrations of official career make Ma Dai have to turn to peaceful reclusion to console his sadness. However long peaceful reclusion makes him more anxious and try to make contributions and progresses. Therefore Ma Dai triggers off contradiction between the expectation of being an official and admiration of reclusion.
