Nanni Moretti is one of the most important non-mainstream directors in Italy for the past 30 years.He has written,directed,and performed several films all by himself.His films have a distinctive personality and have gained certain recognition internationally.His films are of strong aesthetic value,but there is also some controversy towards them.To the Chinese audience,he may be not a popular one.Moretti's films usually have outstanding features and are often contradictory,which is also called the "Moretti style".This style has both realistic experience that approximates life,but also has strong psychedelic colors;it has both pungent satire criticism and humble self-criticism.It is both comedy and tragedy.In the first chapter of this paper,the author introduces how Moretti gets into the film field,then divides Moretti's film career into three stages,and analyzes the process of establishing and changing the aesthetic characteristics of his film.In the second chapter,the author discusses the aesthetic features of Moretti's film,including the blend of reality and hallucination,the combination of irony and self-mockery,and the fusion of comedy and tragedy.In the third chapter,the author analyzes the characteristics of Moretti's film elements on the technical level,and mainly elaborates on his anti-traditional narrative strategies and non-actual shot language.In this chapter,the anti-traditional narrative strategies include a narrative model of lifestream,a fragmented narrative structure,and an open,non-logical ending;the unperturbed shot language includes calm and neutral long shots,calm and solemn fixed shots,and meaningful moving shots.The author explores the origin of the formation of the aesthetic features of Moretti's film,and analyzes them from the two dimensions of cultural roots and social roots in the fourth chapter.According to the author,the cultural roots mainly include the Italian Neo-Realist cinema,the Italian Psychology,the French New Wave Movement the traditional Italian comedy.As to the social origin,the author mainly analyzes the growth and life of Moretti in the era of youth,the influences of contemporary capitalism on him and the special family structure in Italy.The fifth chapter elaborates the philosophical reflections Moletti's films bring people:both the question of existence and self,and the revelation and indictment of human loneliness and incommunicability;both the exploration of the meaning of life and the author's attitude towards the others.The author hopes to enable more people to discover,pay attention to and study the unique aesthetic value of Moretti's films through the analysis in this paper.
