Practicc Report On Compiling The China Daily

Out of my personal interest,and purpose to improve the level of translation ability,and to broaden my horizon,I started the translation practice in September of 2017 at the China Daily Agency,participated in translation work about the current politics and so on,with total words translated climbed to over thirty thousand.This paper,taking my translation works as examples,through compiling to analyze some problems and solutions in the process of translation.To achieve complete equivalence is a kind of ideal state,but I hope that through this study to make translation as soon as possible to be equivalent.This report is divided into four parts:first,the description of the translation task:introducing the China Daily translation task and characteristics.At the same time,it analyzed the characteristics of English news from three aspects,including vocabulary,structure and voices,and the enlightenment from these characteristics to translation;secondly.the description of the translation process:including the author's understanding,translation and review of the original English text;thirdly,translation cases analysis:under the strategies and skills of compiling,such as amplification,omission and compiling,as well as to split a long sentence methods to translate the titles,guides and main bodies of the news,and to figure out the applicability of compiling in the news;fourthly,summary of translation practices:summarize the experience and significance of this translation practice,including my understanding of this translation project,the problems needed to be solved,the practical significance of this report and so on.Compiling strategy still is a relatively mature translation strategy,in areas such as tourism,science,technology and advertising have been widely used,but the use in the news translation is very less.The news itself is special,which has two characteristics:timeliness and literariness.The compiling strategy advocates"change",which is contrary to the "faithfulness" of the news.Therefore,based on the compiling strategy and the characteristics of English news,this paper explores the feasibility of compiling in news.It is also hoped that this article can provide some reference for the translator in the news translation.
