This is a report on English-Chinese translation of Multiculturalism without Culture,an Australian sociological work, which is written by Anne Phillips,a professor of political and gender theory. The passage mainly describes multiculturalism in Australian, which involves feminism, cultural conflicts, and gender discrimination. There are four parts in this report, including translation task description, translation process description, translation case analysis and translation practice conclusion. The third part is the central part of the report, which includes translation difficulties and solutions.According to the Vermeer’s Skopos theory-"Skopos rules, coherence rule and fidelity rule",this report will mainly discuss and analyze two aspects:translation methods of words and translation methods of attributive clauses. The main translation methods of words including conversion, amplification and omission. The main translation methods of attributive clauses including pre-position,post-position and synthetic translation. In the process of translation, the author realizes that the three principles of Vermeer’s Skopos are of great theoretical value and guiding significance for non-literary translation practice.
