With the development of globalization,academic exchanges at home and abroad are becoming more and more frequent.Academic translation has played an important role in the academic exchanges of the world.Verbs: aspect and causal structure(Chapter 4)is selected as the source text in this report in order to summarize difficulties and their solutions in the process of academic translation at lexical level,syntactic level and textual level under the guidance of Skopos theory and its three rules.At lexical level,there are proper nouns,linguistic and statistical terms,and noun phrases in the source text.Literal translation,free translation and literal translation with annotation are adopted to translate these terms in order to convey accurate information to the receivers;the conversion of part of speech is adopted to convert noun phrases into verbal or adjective phrases to improve the readability of the translation;literal translation is adopted to translate terms and proper nouns to ensure the accuracy of the translation.At syntactic level,passive sentences,long and difficult sentences and sentences with a parenthesis are mostly used in the source text.Passive voice is converted into passive sentences,active sentences and non-subject sentences to coordinate the difference between English and Chinese;sequential translation,reverse translation,split translation and combined translation are adopted to tackle long and difficult sentences to ensure the consistency of the translation;sequential translation is adopted to translate sentences with a parenthesis,which is consistent with the structure and content of the source text.At textual level,the style and logic of the original text are recreated in the translation;amplification and omission are adopted to conform to intratextual coherence;contexts are taken into consideration to ensure the faithfulness to the source text.This report analyzes practical problems with specific examples,summarizes solutions and patterns of problems,proposes limitations and suggestions in order to provide a reference for trainee translators in the translation of relevant academic texts.
