A Study Of E-C Translation Of Sports News From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

As one of the pragmatic translations,E-C translation of sports news aims at the fulfillment of transferring sports news information and achieving the functions.Skopos Theory indicates that translation is a purposeful activity which requires translators to combine the client’s requirements both with the analyses of the source text and the target readers to achieve the intended function of translation in target language.In this sense,Skopos Theory can guide the study of E-C translation of sports news.Based on Skopos Theory,this thesis introduces the concept of three rules of Skopos Theory to analyze and study the corpus from 2016 Rio Olympic bilingual sports news.By regarding the three rules:Skopos rule,Coherence rule and Fidelity rule as the criterion,this paper analyzes the E-C translation of sports news from 2016 Rio Olympics to study the importance and rationality of Skopos Theory when applied in practical translation as well as to sort some translation strategies,such as addition,omission,adaptation,transforming part of speech and etc..This research aims at exploring reasonable translation theory and strategies for E-C sports news translation,which will build a positive foundation for the promotion of China’s sports,the refinement of translatology,especially the construction of pragmatic translation theory.
