| This translation report,taking the C-E translation of the Tour Commentary for Zhuwangcun Village as an example,points out the main characteristics of the tour commentary,which is emphasis on communication and interaction.This report first explores the strategies and methods of translating dynasties names in Chinese history,geographical names,ancient Chinese official titles,imperial examinations and legends from the perspective of cultural negotiation.Then,in accordance with three decoding positions of ?Hall Mode?,an analysis is undertaken concerning the differences in idiomatic expressions,cultures and customs,ideologies and thinking modes between China and the West.This translation report believes that Western tourists tend to hold a dominant or negotiation position in decoding the tour commentaries.In order to spread Chinese culture to Western tourists to the fullest extent in translating the tour commentary,the translator should make great efforts to perform cultural consultation and negotiation with them by adopting correct modes of encoding according to the tourists? decoding positions,so as to present a tour commentary full of humanity and humor.Such a tour commentary will help build an effective two-way communication between tour guides and tourists,since tourists are herein considered not as passive audience,but a positive participator.Tour commentary translated as such can optimize the actual communication effect of cultural information among the western tourists.This translation report,based on the main characteristics of C-E translation of tour commentary,aims at providing a reference for other translators who are working to translate similar tour commentaries. |
