An Interpretation Report On The Public Lecture Foods For Protecting The Body And Mind

This is an interpretation report which represents difficulties and solutions during the process of the English public lecture "Foods for Protecting our Body and Mind".It discusses the effects of peoples' body and brain caused by different dietary patterns,which tells people that improper diet has increased risk for diabetes,obesity epidemic and Alzheimer's disease,on the contrary,the plant-based diet would reverse these disease and contributes to a healthy physical and intellectual condition.The public lecture involves a lot of medical knowledge.Even though the medical English shared a lot similarity with the general English in vocabulary and grammar,it includes many unique idiomatic expressions and usage,which makes the interpretation more difficult.With the guidance of the functional equivalence theory and the interpretive theory,the interpreter dealt with the medical English by analyzing the vocabulary,sentence,and style features respectively,and adopted the following methods,including domestication,alienation,amplification,omission,transferring the class of word,transferring the pattern of sentence.The report consists of six chapters.The first chapter is task description,introducing the reasons for choosing this public lecture,the significance and the structure of this interpretation report,the brief introduction of the lecturer as well as the lecture;The second chapter is task process,including interpretation preparation,difficulties encountered in the interpretation and assessment after the interpretation;The third chapter is the literature review,introducing the relevant literature both in China and abroad;The fourth chapter is theoretical basis,introducing the functional equivalence theory;The fifth chapter is difficulties in the process of interpretation and solutions to them,mainly about the research on charts and tendency analysis map and the interpretation of technical terms.The sixth chapter is conclusion,including the interpretation insight and limitations and suggestions in interpretation.
