| It’s a common phenomenon in North Myanmar that a teacher who works in the oversea-Chinese school will teach multiple subjects and the students from different grade.The research of this paper is focused on how the international Chinese volunteer teachers deal with the special teaching conditions.The research takes the international Chinese volunteer teacher as study objects,who work in the five oversea-Chinese schools in the year 2015 and 2016.Based on my own experience and guided by the related theory of teaching Chinese as a second language,this paper studies on the concrete situation of multiple-subjects teaching,the problems that the volunteer teachers met.The self-reflection about the necessary qualities they need and their assessments are also included in the thesis.Besides,this paper attempts to carry out a discussion about the coping strategies the teachers took while multiple-subjects teaching.Then,according to the data and analysis,we provide some suggestions for Hanban’s training and the volunteers in the future.Considering the opinions of the international Chinese volunteer teachers,the native teachers,the oversea-Chinese schools and local students,the lack and high mobility of teachers are main reasons of multiple-subjects teaching.The problems that the volunteer teachers met while multiple-subjects teaching are divided into four sides:the teaching conditions,the curriculum,the textbooks and the students.With the self-reflection that the international Chinese volunteer teachers did,it seems that the professional teaching attitude and high-quality lesson preparation are the essential qualification that anyone who are teaching multiple subjects should possess.According to the survey,the coping strategies are into two categories:self-help and seeking other’s help.Based on the above situation,the next volunteer teachers are supposed to make full preparations for this job before moving on to Myanmar,and ought to take a positive attitude towards teaching.As to Hanban,they should take concentrated training for the volunteers who are going to teach Chinese in Myanmar,strengthen the pertinence of the contents and add some courses about the multiple-subjects teaching that exist in the oversea-Chinese schools of North Myanmar.Moreover,they can organize some training for the volunteer teachers in North Myanmar during school holidays. |
