Report On The(E-C) Translation Of The Second World War(Excerpt ) | | Posted on:2018-01-02 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:X Chang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2405330515495821 | Subject:English translation | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The Second World War,lasted from 1939 to 1945,was the most widespread war in history,involving the vast majority of the world’s nations.The year of 2015 was the 70 th anniversary of the victory of The Second World War.The Allied countries all over the world,including China,had hosted numerous activities,like publications of a series of books,films and documentaries,to celebrate this special year and to commemorate the great contributions made by the heroes at that time.In order to promote culture exchanges,Xian East Press decided to publish a series of books with the same theme-the Second World War.The Second World War series,written by the Prime Minister of Great Britain-Winston Churchill,is good choices for Chinese people to understand the war situation of the Second World War in other battlefields.There have been two Chinese versions in the market.One was published by Nanfang Press in2005 and another version was published by Yilin Press in 2012.These two versions were short of technical support and language expression because of their earlier issue time.So the East Press decided to republish this book series.The book series was issued by 6volumes and the translator’s task this time was Chapter XV and Chapter XVI of the 6th volume.There are five parts in this report.The first part is an introduction which includes background information,significance and purpose of translation task.The second part is task description which includes source text analysis and requirements from the Entrusting Party.The third part is translation process which includes before translation,while translation and after translation.The translator made full preparation before translation,including background information,writer’ s life experiences,writer’ s linguistic feature,choice of parallel text,translation theory,strategies and methods,translation plan,formulation of glossary terms.The part of while translation includes quality control and some details of translation.Post-translation includes feedback from the entrusting party,peer evaluation and self-evaluation.The fourth part is case analysis which are some problems appear during the translation process and the solutions.The fifth part is conclusion and the translator summarizes the experiences gained from this translation task. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | The Second World War, Winston Churchill, Non-fiction translation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
