The existing literature generally considers that the input of western modernity is a kind of passive acceptance in considering the problem of social transformation in modem China.However,the study of this conclusion is more subject to the "Western pass-the East by" and "traditional-modern" thinking structure,ignoring the Western modernity in China's localization process encountered by the confrontation to competition and then to the integration of the dynamic process.In the early days of the Republic of China,the struggle of Chinese and Western art in the Chinese art field was actually the Chinese elite intellectuals chose to construct the modern state with Western or Chinese culture at the beginning of formation of the modern state,and After experiencing the baptism of the May Fourth Movement,all walks of life quickly participated in the construction of national culture,and put forward their own cultural ideas,art circles thus become the ideological place for groups to publish their own artistic and cultural concepts.However,this situation has only been maintained for more than ten years.After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War,the cultural construction of the whole nation has undergone a fundamental change in the political situation.The painting has become a propaganda tool for politics.The basic pattern of the political forces with the changes and re-shuffle,realist painting to the Chinese Communist Party in the war of resistance against Japan and the victory of the war as a promoter,after the founding of new China became the art field of mainstream painting form,and to the form of literary and artistic principles of the system was established,since the formation of the realism of traditional painting and traditional Chinese painting two forms of the basic pattern of art field.This study aims to use the social practice theory of Bourdieu and related cultural sociology theories as framework to study the strategies used by different art groups in the art field of the Republic of China to make themselves winning in confrontation and competition,and how the strategies of competition between China and the West art groups show the power relations behind each other.The answer to these questions will help us to revisit the cultural modernity in the transition to modern countries,and how cultural modernization has laid the basic pattern of modern art field.
