Analysis Of Bus Technical Standard Documents On C-E Translation Difficulties And Strategies

Bus technical standards vary in different factories and in different countries. The competition of technical standards has become an important aspect in bus export. The author is working in global market department. To face the fierce competition, the author is entrusted to translate technical documents for middle-east market, especially for developing countries. Bus technical standards documents aim at providing bus assembly and bus repair reference for abroad production and service staff, which requires the translator to be specific and professional and the translation version should be straight and concise. This translation report is rightly based on the experience of translating the bus export technical standards of painting, coating, foaming, gluing and passenger doors in Shanghai Sunwin Bus Coporation. It consists of four major parts, of which the first part is the general instruction of the project, including the introduction of Shanghai Sunwin Bus Corporation and the instruction of the material to be translated; the second part is mainly focused on translation process, including the preparation and text analysis, difficulties of the translation and solutions, proof reading and quality control of the translation; the third part, the main part, the author is clarifying the strategies when facing translation difficulties; the fourth part, also the closing part, concluding that translation on technical standards documents must be under the guidance of corporate engineer to purse accuracy more than elegance. Meanwhile, the last part is supposed to make the report valuable for reference about translation on bus technical standards.
